Was Craig Johnson still "tickled" by the changing-color effects on the branches of the trees and on the shrubs of his Sleepy Hollow GC course ? Well, nobody will ever know but, one thing is for sure : this course is a par 71, and not a par 72 !
This being said, his layout is quite interesting, albeit it is not a very difficult course, despite quite a few water hazards, mostly seen on the front 9, as you will discover hitting your approaches to the greens of the par-4 1st and the par-3 2nd holes, both with water on the left.
More water is in store on the right dogleg par-5 4th hole, with a tee shot over a small lake (and a few shrubs) and an uphill approach to the elevated green, and on the dogleg par-4 5th, with a narrow winding tree-lined fairway and a small lake, in front of the green (to the left) with a river behind it.
As for the left dogleg par-5 7th hole, and its rollercoaster fairway, you should be able to get an eagle opportunity, with its elevated green, reachable on your second shot, before moving on to the par-3 8th, and hitting a steeply-downhill shot toward the green (with a small pond to the left to watch for), and finishing with the right dogleg par-4 9th hole, with an elongated bunker across the fairway (and along on the right) and an uphill approach to the green, with a big lake behind... and to the right.
The back 9 is less scenic and has fewer water holes, beside the right dogleg par-5 12th, where you can reach its green (framed by two bunkers) with a very long approach, provided you can avoid the lake on the right, and the similar (but straighter) par-4 13th and its slightly-elevated green.
One last interesting hole is the straight and slightly-uphill par-4 17th, where you can reach the green with your driver in order to have another shot at an eagle, before completing your round with the right dogleg par-4 18th, with a small elongated bunker in the right corner and an uphill approach to the green (with the lake on the left and behind).
Even though this Sleepy Hollow Golf Club is well designed, with some elevation changes and its "special effects"... surprising (or disturbing, up to you !), it is not challenging enough and cannot be compared to the very pretty Sleepy Hollow course, done by BullPupp2, which is a totally different course and one of my favorites...
