OAKMONT, Oakmont PA-Henry Fownes 1903
Site of the 2007 U.S. Open, Oakmont was founded in 1903. The course has been consistently rated among the top ten courses in America and maintains a turn-of-the-century charm with all of todays contemporary amenities. Major championship have played an important role in the tradition-rich history of Oakmont Country Club, including:
- Five U.S. Amateur Championship (1919, 1925, 1938, 1969 & 2003)
- Three PGA Championships (1922, 1951 & 1978)
- Seven U.S. Opens (1927, 1935, 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983 & 1994)
- One U.S. Womens Open (1992)
DESIGNER NOTES:
This course was created to play as a difficult Golf simulation. The course uses advanced game-play with very fast greens. Because of the speed and slopes this course should never be played on Vry Dry greens. They roll about 12 to 13 on Dry. Please understand this is a computer game and not a real life simulation of Oakmont. The real course is one of the hardest in the world and impossible to duplicate for a computer game. However it is possible to achieve a good test of computer golf. You may have to grind out some pars. All the hazard ditches on the course are unplayable hazards. |
