Course Architect Comments

Although it is called the Lake course there is no water in play on this 6,800 plus yard course right in the middle of San Francisco. Replacing the threat of water are more than 40,000 trees, extreme elevation changes, and nearly impossible greens. The course only features one fairway bunker, on the 6th hole. The Olympic Club hosted the 1998 US Open where Lee Janzen came back from seven shots down to defeat Payne Stewart. His final score was even par. Casey Martin became the first golfer to use a motorized cart in that same open. Recreated by Bobby Bolin in 2005.
