Well, good news : M.G.A. Hover found a way of designing a course that did not cost him 47 million dollars (see general info) ! And guess what ? It is a good one too...
With plenty of big... lakes (and not ponds !), undulating and/or sloped fairways and greens, this par 73 is also pretty to look at, with blue and red flowers all along, as you will find out, right off the bat, on the dogleg par-4 1st hole, with its fairway hugging a big lake on the left.
Then, after the pretty par-4 2nd and par-3 3rd holes, with more flowers to gaze at, I also like the right dogleg par-4 5th, with its elongated bunker on the left and a lake on the right (midway), and the straight (and long) par-5 6th hole, with its fairway set between two elongated lakes, not to mention its sloped green.
Then, after the picturesque par-3 7th hole, with another big lake behind the green (on the right), you will face the par-4 8th, with its fairway set, halfway, between a serpentine bunker on the left and a big lake on the right.
The back 9 starts with two pretty holes : the par-4 10th is a dogleg, bending sharply to the left, with plenty of colorful flowers around the edge of a lake (and a long serpentine bunker further behind ending in front of the green), and the par-4 11th is a right dogleg, with a downhill shot toward the green, guarded by 3 bunkers in front and more water behind.
After the par-4 12th hole, and its sloped fairway and undulating green (next to the lake on the right), you will move later on to the left dogleg par-4 14th, with another sloped fairway, split in the middle by a long and serpentine bunker ending across and past the green on the right.
On the last four holes, you will have to deal with more water hazards, starting with the pretty left dogleg par-4 15th and its second shot over a big lake (and a small, lengthy bridge), before continuing with the right dogleg par-4 16th, with another lake on the right and a lengthy serpentine bunker on the left, and an undulating and sloped green.
You will finish with two par-5 holes, with the right dogleg 18th, being my favorite, where you will need to hit a very long second shot over a lake to reach the elevated green, guarded by a bunker across in front.
If this course should have been called Seven Lakes instead, it is, nevertheless, a very pleasant one to play and you will have fun, dealing with all those water hazards and well-placed bunkers, thanks to M.G.A Hover's vivid imagination !
